Long-term trend of the ionospheric E-layer response to solar flares

چکیده

Using data from ground-based vertical sounding of the ionosphere (VS) at station Moscow and five Japanese stations for period 1969 to 2015, we have examined long-term response E layer solar X-ray flares. The analysis relies on previously developed method estimating ratio between rates ionization by X-rays qx ultraviolet radiation qu during We confirmed existence a (at least covering 45-year observation period) increase in proportion total rate ionospheric layer, characterized qx/q, where q=qx+q. qx/q is shown throughout interest independent activity cycle. There also no dependence trend season, latitude (26°–56° N), longitude (37°–28° E).

The effect of background conditions on the ionospheric response to solar flares

The ionospheric response to two X5 solar flares that occurred in different seasons was investigated using the global ionosphere-thermosphere model. Two questions were investigated: (a) how do different solar flares with similar X-ray peak intensities disturb the ionosphere during the same background and driving conditions? and (b) how do the geomagnetic field and season affect the ionospheric r...

Long-term trends in the ionospheric E and F1 regions

Ground based ionosonde measurements are the most essential source of information about long-term variations in the ionospheric E and F1 regions. Data of such observations have been derived at many different ionospheric stations all over the world some for more than 50 years. The standard parameters foE, h’E, and foF1 are used for trend analyses in this paper. Two main problems have to be consid...

Mars ionospheric response to solar wind variability

[1] At planets with induced magnetospheres, the coupling between the ionosphere, the weak draped magnetosphere, and the solar wind is very direct in comparison to Earth. The weak induced magnetosphere itself is created by the prevailing Solar wind conditions and therefore in its shape and strength dynamically depending on it. In early 2010, Mars was located behind Earth in the Solar wind; thus,...

Ionospheric response to the X‐class solar flare

[1] We investigate the extreme ionospheric effect during the intense solar flare (X17.0/3B) that occurred on 7 September 2005. A strong E region electron density enhancement is observed by the incoherent scatter radars at Millstone Hill, Sondrestrom, and Tromsø, as well as by the radio occultation experiment on board the CHAMP satellite. The observations from both Millstone Hill and Sondrestrom...
